East of the River Community Forum on Sustainability

If you live, work, play or have an interest in the future of Ward 7 & 8 - Come on out...
On October 30th you will have a rare opportunity to help establish the agenda for the future of our communities that lie east of the Anacostia River, whether you live, work or play there. The Anacostia Coordinating Council in conjunction with the Offices of Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry, the Ward 8 Environmental Council and the Sierra Club is hosting:

“How Do We Create Vibrant, Sustainable East of the River Communities?”
Saturday, October 30, 2010
9:00 am—3:00 pm
1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE

(Refreshments will be served)

This is a community forum to explore issues, ideas & actions that we can take to shape the future of the places we live. What do we mean by “sustainable?” Take a moment to imagine what type of community we can create, not only today, but over the next ten, twenty, thirty years and beyond. We will look at ways we can make our local neighborhoods healthier, safer, greener, more livable and more prosperous for ourselves and our children. To do so, we need your thoughts, your ideas, and your vision as what needs to be done. We are approaching the next decade of the 21st century, what do you want to see unfold where you live, work and play. The proceedings from this forum will be shared with others in our community, including public officials, who help in its shaping, make sure that you are heard.

Please pass the word along and be there. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email: or 202-575-1469 (office/home) or 202-299-6503 (cell).

  1. OMG, I had no idea that this meeting took place until I read this article today. Would there be any other meetings in the future concerning this and the development of Ward 7? Please let me know, I'd really appreciate it.
