The real winners of DC Primary

Miss V would like to send out a congratulations to all the candidates that won the Democratic Primary yesterday this morning. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning until the results came in (I was also working). The results reflected pretty much what everyone expected. However, Miss V must point out the REAL winners last night: Ward 7. Yes, Ward 7 is well on our way to occupying the two most powerful elected positions in the city. We can use this power for good and get REAL change in Ward 7 or we can remain disjointed and allow four years to go by with elected officials from Ward 7 with no record of accomplishment specific to Ward 7.

Miss V can think of 5 burning issues that need to be addressed in Ward 7 sooner rather than later
  1. MPD-6D Substation and 6D HQ
  2. Placing PEPCO power lines underground as part of Great Streets projects
  3. Circulator to move people throughout the Ward
  4. Eminent Domain Bill to purchase commercial properties along Penn Ave SE
  5. Holding commercial property owners accountable for the appearance of their buildings
"We the people" of Ward 7 need to coming together to determine our UNIFIED position on these issues and others. We need to speak one message with multiple voices. We need to not sit back and wait for our elected officials to do for us. We need to tell them what we want them to do and what position we want them to take. If we fail to come together and four years from now we are in the same boat we are today, we only have ourselves to blame.

  1. I agree. We -the community- need to speak up and work together.
