Due to the affordability of Fairfax Village and other locations East of the River, we have "investors" that purchase units over here and then rent out to people receiving housing vouchers. I have no issues with anyone (black, white, rich, poor, gay, straight) that wants to live in my community peacefully. We have people receiving housing vouchers, who keep their units cleaner than most homeowners living in their units and are extremely pleasant people.

However, since I've lived here, the units in my Village that have caused the most problems (drug activity, foot traffic, insect infestation) were receiving housing vouchers. We had this one woman in my building who had men in and out her unit all hours of the night and a "boyfriend" living with her and selling drugs out of the unit. The cops were always at my building breaking up an altercation. Not to mention for the year that she lived her the entire building was infested with roaches. (Note: I haven't had a single roach since she left).

We had another unit were a disabled man was letting his brother live with him despite the fact MPD had an arrest warrant on the brother. The drug activity in that unit was so bad that the Condo Association received threats of lawsuits from other homeowners. This disabled man has since died and the unit is now empty.

Needless to say, Miss V has A LOT to say on this topic.
